The purpose of the non-profit outreach program for the PMI GNO chapter is to utilize the talents of chapter membership to assist non-profit organizations in the Greater New Orleans area in the successful completion of projects, programs and initiatives that add value to their organizations.
This program provides two key advantages:
- For the volunteer - it provides an opportunity to “give back” to the community and earn PDU’s by using their talents in project management best practices to assist organizations that cannot afford to hire or train experienced project management talent.
- For the non-profit - it provides project management talent at no cost to consult and educate non-profit employees and volunteers in the application of project and program management principles and practices to successfully complete strategic initiatives using proven methods that have been applied successfully in larger corporate environments.
This program utilizes PMI’s Volunteer Relationship Management System (VRMS) to match volunteers to potential non-profit opportunities. Volunteers register in VRMS by entering a profile of their skills and experience as well as the types of opportunities they are interested in. VRMS can automatically contact volunteers when opportunities matching their profile are opened.
VRMS can be used to match members to volunteer opportunities such as outreach programs, open board and committee positions, local opportunities such as festivals and other local events, and even national and international PMI opportunities.
To search for opportunities within VRMS, click Find an Opportunity on the Volunteer home page.
Instructions on using VRMS can be found under the VRMS Guides menu item on the Volunteer home page.
