PMP Examination Requirements

  • Category 1 Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent AND
    • Minimum three years / 36 months non-overlapping (unique) project management experience, AND
    • Minimum of 4,500 hours spent leading and directing project management tasks within the five process groups, AND
    • Has a minimum of 35 contact hours of specific instruction that addresses learning objectives in project management.
  • Category 2 Requirements:
    • High school diploma, Associate’s degree or global equivalent.
    • Minimum of five years / 60 months non-overlapping (unique) of project management experience, AND
    • Minimum of 7,500 hours are spent leading and directing project management tasks within the five process groups, AND
    • Has a minimum of 35 contact hours of specific instruction that addresses learning objectives in project management.

Application Approval Process

  • Applications will be processed within 5 business days.
  • Eligibility letters will be emailed after applications are processed.
  • You must have received your eligibility letter with your acceptance code to schedule and take your exam.

The PMP Certification Exam

  • 200 multiple choice questions with four (4) answers per question
  • Questions are randomly selected from a computer database of thousands
  • Maximum of four (4) hours to complete
  • Passing score on the exam is now 106 out of 175, approximately 61% or better
  • There is no penalty for wrong answers
  • Test requires significantly more than memorization
  • Almost half of the exam requires you to define what you would do in a given situation
  • The exam emphasizes the five (5) process groups, the nine (10) knowledge areas including professional & social responsibilities
  • Exam requires you to answer the questions from PMI’s perspective NOT the real world

Exam Results

  • Computer Test results are immediate
